Stevan Ridley News
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Stevan Ridley saw just five touches in Week 14, despite James Conner being inactive with a knee injury. He was able to salvage his afternoon with a short touchdown but the Week 14 game plan showed that the Steelers plan to feature Jaylen Samuels, not Ridley, while Conner is injured. Ridley should continue to see goal line and short yardage work but he won't be useful in fantasy unless he scores. Ridley should be treated as a touchdown-or-bust desperation flex in the fantasy semifinals this weekend.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Stevan Ridley carried the ball five times for four yards and a touchdown in his team's 24-21 loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 14. Ridley was not a factor in the passing game but he was called upon to punch in a two-yard score in the second quarter. While Ridley won't see a majority of the backfield work while James Conner is out, he does hold some low-end value as the team's preferred goal-line back. He should remain involved in Week 15 against the New England Patriots.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Stevan Ridley, who is six years removed from his first and only 1,000-yard season of his career, is ready for a larger role in Week 14 against the Raiders with James Conner (ankle) out. Ridley had his 1,000-yard campaign in 2012 and hasn't had more than 340 rushing yards in a season since. He has only 18 carries for 56 yards in 2018, but he's expected to have a bigger role alongside Jaylen Samuels this Sunday. Ridley, Samuels and Trey Edmunds all got first-team repetitions in practice on Wednesday. Samuels expects to make his first career start, but Ridley will play a big role as well, as Samuels has never been a featured back. The Steelers may be looking to ride the hot hand here, so Ridley might be worth a flex play in deeper leagues in a great matchup.
