Chris Ivory News
The Buffalo Bills plan to release running back Chris Ivory after signing veteran Frank Gore this offseason, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Releasing Ivory will save the team $2.15 million against the salary cap and will cost $750,000 in dead cap money. The veteran averaged just 3.3 yards per carry on 115 attempts in 2018 and hasn't averaged more than 3.8 YPC since 2016. The 31-year-old won't have a robust market in free agency.
Buffalo Bills running back Chris Ivory rushed for 45 yards on 14 carries and also caught one pass for 46 yards for a total of 91 yards from scrimmage in Week 17's victory over the Dolphins. It was his second-highest scrimmage yards this year thanks in large part to a fantastic catch and run on a third down and 16 play where he would have reached the end zone if he wasn't tripped up at the one-yard line. Josh Allen scored on a quarterback sneak on the very next play. The 30-year-old did not play the previous two weeks as he was dealing with a shoulder injury. Ivory finished the season with 385 rushing yards and one touchdown to go along with 13 receptions for 205 yards. He has one year left on the two-year contract that he signed with the team this past offseason, so it will be interesting to see if the Bills keep him around next year. If the ninth-year pro does come back, he is no more than a solid backup.
Buffalo Bills running back Chris Ivory (shoulder) and tight end Charles Clay are inactive for Week 16 against the Patriots. Ivory practiced in full late in the week, so it's a surprise that he's not playing. With LeSean McCoy back as the lead ball carrier, rookie Keith Ford should back up Shady against New England. Ford has zero standalone fantasy value, while McCoy has settled in as an RB3/flex in this inconsistent offense that could be playing from behind all day. Clay is a healthy scratch and hasn't been on the fantasy radar all season long.
