Trumaine Johnson News
New York Jets cornerback Trumaine Johnson (hamstring) is back on the practice field and expected to suit up Sunday at home against Buffalo. This is a big upgrade to a defensive unit that is a solid streaming option against a Bills team that finished 30th in points per game last season. The Jets made upgrades to their defensive line via the draft selecting Quinnen Williams third overall and still boast one of the best young defensive stars in safety Jamal Adams. Having Johnson healthy is vital to the secondary slowing down a Bills offense that loves the vertical passing game with two receivers that averaged at least 25 yards per route last season. They won't be a must-start option in fantasy every week, but there are certainly worse options in Week 1 when streaming defenses.
New York Jets head coach Adam Gase said he's "leaning" toward cornerback Trumaine Johnson (hamstring) practicing fully on Thursday, and he thinks that Johnson will start against the Bills in Week 1 on Sunday. Having Johnson on the field on Sunday will be huge as they try to slow down wide receiver John Brown deep down the field. The Bills offense isn't the greatest in the league, but they have the ability to strike big plays at any moment with quarterback Josh Allen taking chances. At home against Buffalo, the Jets Defense should be considered a low-end fantasy play.
New York Jets cornerback Trumaine Johnson (hamstring) returned to practice on a limited basis Tuesday. Johnson had been out with a hamstring injury and didn't participate in team drills but today was a good sign he's on track for week 1. Johnson is listed as the top cornerback on the Jets' depth chart and will be a key part of the secondary on a defense with sleeper appeal. Safety Jamal Adams is a budding star and the Jets beefed up their run defense by drafting lineman Quinnen Williams third overall. The Jets open the season against Buffalo so they could be a good last round pick if you plan on streaming defenses.
