Kevin Johnson News
Cleveland Browns cornerback Kevin Johnson (liver) was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday after he sustained a laceration to his liver when another player landed on him during practice. He is resting comfortably and is expected to remain in the hospital for at least another 24 hours for observation. The 28-year-old will obviously miss some time in training camp, but he has time to heal up and be ready for the start of the regular season, which is just over a month away. Johnson represents cornerback depth in Cleveland and had 36 combined tackles and five passes defensed in 16 games (one start) in his lone season with Buffalo in 2019.
The Houston Texans placed cornerback Kevin Johnson (concussion) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. Johnson will be eligible to return but must sit out at least eight weeks. Johnson's absence will make the team's secondary much weaker, but their strong defensive front could make up for it. The Texans defense/special teams is definitely worth starting in Week 2 against the Titans, who are without their left and right tackles and minus their top pass-catching target in Delanie Walker (ankle).
Houston Texans cornerback Kevin Johnson (concussion) is expected to be out four weeks, and potentially up to six weeks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Johnson has a history of concussions, suffering one on Aug. 18 and in 2017. Aaron Colvin, Kayvon Webster and Johnson Bademosi are potential replacements for Johnson. His absence will weaken Houston's secondary, but their overall defense still remains a low-end fantasy option in Week 2 against the Titans.
