Darren Sproles News
Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles (hip) will retire at the end of the season, ending his 15-year career. Sproles is currently out for the season with a torn right hip flexor. "I gave it everything I had on every play," Sproles said. The 36-year-old pint-sized back ran for 66 yards on just 17 carries in 2019, his sixth season with the Eagles. The three-time Pro Bowler spent three years with the Saints and six to begin his career with the Chargers. He was a fourth-round pick back in 2005, and he's No. 5 on the all-time list for all-purpose yards (19,696). In his prime, Sproles was one of the most versatile and explosive backs in open space.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles will miss the rest of the 2019 season due to a torn hip flexor. The veteran back suffered the injury originally in Week 5 but was able to return in Week 9. Sproles missed most of last season due to injury as well, which led him to return for one more year. After two straight injury-plagued seasons, however, this could be it for the former Saint and Charger. Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders, and Boston Scott remain on the Eagles running back depth chart.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles is not a fantasy option for a Week 11 game against the New England Patriots. The Patriots bring their top defense to Philadelphia on Sunday and could give the Eagles offense fits. Sproles is healthy now, but his role remains mostly on special teams. He's not a starting option in any standard formats.
