Corey Seager News
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is absent from the team's starting lineup on Monday as they take on the Tigers in Detroit. With Seager on the pine to start, Josh Smith will play shortstop and bat fifth in the lineup against Tigers right-hander Reese Olson. Seager will get the day off on Monday after starting each of the team's last five games. The two-time World Series MVP is hitting .304/.400/.393 to pick up where he left off last postseason, but it's come with only one home run and five RBI in the early going. Fantasy managers will need to remove him from their lineups for Monday's action. Ezequiel Duran is also in the lineup at third base and is batting sixth. Smith has gotten a hit in his only career at-bat against Olson, while Duran is 0-for-1 in his career.
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Oakland Athletics. Fantasy managers don't need to worry as this appears to be a routine rest day for Seager. He's off to an excellent start, batting .368 with one home run and five RBI in nine games. Josh Smith will cover shortstop versus southpaw Alex Wood on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should expect Seager to be back in the lineup for their next game.
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager hit his first home run of 2024 on Wednesday in a 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. It was a solo shot off of Rays starter Aaron Civale, which was the only run Civale gave up on the day. Seager is now 8-for-22 (.364) on the season, but Wednesday's homer was his first extra-base hit of the campaign. The four-time All-Star also has three RBI and four runs scored while drawing two walks to four strikeouts. If there were any concerns about his offseason sports-hernia surgery, it seems those can be put to rest. For now, he looks to be on track for another Seager-esque season, which again should be plenty productive in a potent Texas lineup.

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is basking in the glow of a historic 2023 season, steering the team to its first World Series win and etching his name as just the fourth player to secure two World Series MVP awards. At 29, Seager delivered an extraordinary performance, boasting a slash line of .327/.390/.623, accompanied by 33 home runs and 96 RBIs. Notably, he achieved a career-best 169 wRC+, underscoring his offensive prowess. Impressively, Seager has maintained a wRC+ of at least 100 every year of his career, with four seasons surpassing the 130 mark. Beyond the surface-level statistics, Seager's peripheral metrics underscore the legitimacy of his 2023 accomplishments. The former Dodger consistently ranked in the top 10 percentile across various metrics, particularly excelling by placing in the top four for average exit velocity and hard-hit percentage. While his walk and strikeout rates may not be elite, they stand comfortably above average, posing no hindrance to his future success. Sporting an average ADP of 23, Seager emerges as a prime choice just behind the leading shortstops for the anticipated 2024 season.
