Anibal Sanchez Struggles in Game 3 Loss

Sanchez has posted a 5.10 xFIP this season, so he's really not a good pitcher. He has stepped up in a huge with this postseason and we've all been waiting for one of these games. Sanchez gave up 10 hits and four earned runs over just 5.1 innings, cementing a game three loss. Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa both had his number from the get and Sanchez was never able to get through the middle of the order without a traffic jam. It's on to game four in Washington, where Jose Urquidy and Patrick Corbin will take the hill.

Anibal Sanchez To Start Game 3 Of World Series

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez will start Game 3 of the World Series on Friday against the Astros. Patrick Corbin pitched in relief in Game 1, so he won't be available at least until Game 4 on Saturday. Sanchez was quietly decent or the Nats this year in 30 starts (3.85 ERA, 1.27 WHIP), and he has been even better in the playoffs this year, allowing just one earned run while walking three and striking out 14 in 12 2/3 frames against the Dodgers and Cardinals. The veteran right-hander took a no-hitter into the late innings against the Cardinals in the National League Division Series. Don't expect that dazzling of a performance against Houston, but Sanchez has the stuff to surprise again if he can hit his spots.

Anibal Sanchez Tabbed For NLCS Game 1

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez will start Game 1 of the National League Championship Series against the Cardinals on Friday. The veteran 35-year-old allowed just one run and four hits while striking out nine over five innings in his start in the NLDS against the Dodgers. In 30 regular season starts in 2019, Sanchez had a 3.85 ERA. He's not flashy and is overshadowed in a rotation featuring Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin, but Sanchez has veteran savvy and can be considered a DFS sleeper against a Cardinals team that just threw up 13 runs in their Game 5 NLDS clincher.
