Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Brent Honeywell Jr. was optioned back to Triple-A following Saturday's game, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Managers shouldn't expect much value out of Honeywell this year, but he could be a solid pitcher to roster in 2022.

Honeywell made three appearances (including two starts as an opener) for the Rays this year before being sent down. Over two games and three innings at Triple-A this year, Honeywell allowed no hits, no walks and no runs while recording three strikeouts. It's unclear at this point what the Rays' plans are with their former top prospect. He could be used as an opener in the coming week or he could just work in short relief.
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Brent Honeywell Jr. was sent back down to the team's alternate site after getting the start as the opener in Saturday's win over Toronto, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
