Domingo Germán News
New York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German will rejoin the team when the Yankees need a fifth starter again, according to manager Aaron Boone. German was optioned to the team's alternate site following Saturday's start against the Rays, but that move is set to be short-term as the team is shuffling players around for extra available arms. Fantasy managers should expect German to continue serving as the team's fifth starter at least until Luis Severino (elbow) rejoins the team sometime this summer.
New York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German was optioned to the team's alternate site following Saturday's game, according to a statement from the team. German struggled in his first two starts of the year, going 0-2 with seven runs allowed on 12 hits and two walks in seven innings of work. There is no word of a corresponding move yet, but it seems like managers can safely drop German for now.
New York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German struggled in his season debut on Sunday, allowing three runs over three innings of work before being pulled with 68 pitches. The Blue Jays jumped on German for seven hard-hit balls and two home runs, and the 28-year-old didn't help himself by leaving a few pitches over the heart of the plate. The Yankees were understandably quick to pull German on Sunday in his first regular-season action since 2019, but fantasy managers should expect German to pitch better and last longer into games going forward this season.

The New York Yankees and fantasy managers have a tough decision to make when it comes to starting pitcherDomingo German. The 28-year-old had a 4.03 ERA in 2019 with 18 wins in 143 innings pitched. He accumulated 9.63 strikeouts per nine innings and an FIP of 4.72. German missed the rest of the season and was suspended for all of the shortened 2020 campaign. This was due to an investigation on a domestic-violence case against him. The 28-year-old isn't assured of a rotation spot in 2021, but general manager Brian Cashman also isn't ruling him out. In the Dominican Winter League, German had a 7.16 ERA with 18 strikeouts. At his current ADP of 315, there isn't much risk, which is what you should be looking for in a pitcher that missed all of 2020 and who has seen his strikeout rate drop in each of his three big-league seasons from 2017 to 2019. Unless he's injured in spring training, German has a very good shot at opening the season in New York's rotation.
