Griffin Canning Cleared To Resume Throwing

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Griffin Canning (elbow) has been cleared to resume his throwing program, according to general manager Billy Eppler. Canning will build up the intensity of his throwing program and could get back on a mound by the end of April. The right-hander had a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow around four weeks ago and is hoping to avoid surgery that would likely keep him out for all of the 2020 season. The good news is that the delay of the season due to the coronavirus affords Canning some more time to recover, but there's still no timeline on when he'll be ready or if this route will help him avoid surgery. As of right now, he's still a risky pick in mixed leagues, as his current ADP sits at 300.6.

Gio Urshela Collects Four Hits On Tuesday

New York Yankees third baseman Gio Urshela went 4-for-5 with a double, a run, and a pair of RBI against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Urshela now owns an impressive .896 OPS for the season, and hes done it with a .323 xBA and a .398 xwOBA that both support his strong performance. The New York offense has been a force over the past week as it reaches full health, and Urshela should continue producing at a high level through the rest of the season and the playoffs.

Aaron Hicks Picks Up Two Hits On Tuesday

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks went 2-for-4 with a triple and his third stolen base of the season on Tuesday. Hicks filled up the box score with three RBI and a pair of runs to add on to his production, and Tuesdays performance brought his OPS up to .795 for the season. Hicks has been heating up lately with a .829 OPS in seven games leading up to Tuesday, and fantasy managers should expect the 31-year-old to continue posting an OPS around .800 with another stolen base or two through the end of the season.

Gerrit Cole Picks Up Third Straight Win

New York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole ended his regular season on a high note with a seven-inning, one-run, seven-strikeout performance against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Coles victory on Tuesday was his third in as many starts and his ninth consecutive start with at least seven strikeouts. Tuesday was also Coles 10th start (12 total starts) with at least one home run allowed this season, but thats been the only major blemish on an otherwise fantastic campaign from Cole. Tuesdays start brought Coles ERA down to 2.84 for the season, and his 26.5% K-BB% was elite once again. Fantasy managers should expect Cole to continue being an ace over the rest of the season and into the playoffs, even if his home run woes persist.

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo went yard for his 10th home run of the season on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Rizzo has heated up lately and finished the game 2-for-3. Managers should feel good about Rizzo as the season winds down.

Travis Shaw Dealing With Back Spasms

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Travis Shaw was a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup due to back spasms. In his absence, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. filled in at first base while Randal Grichuk served as the designated hitter. Shaw is being treated as day-to-day, but he is not a sizable loss for fantasy managers either way. He owns a .233/.307/.397 slash line with five homers and 14 RBI across 146 at-bats in 2020. Leave Shaw on the waiver wire for the remainder of the season.

Oneil Cruz's Career In Jeopardy Following Car Crash

Pittsburgh Pirates infield prospect Oneil Cruz may be facing a lengthy jail sentence following a tragic car crash in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday. The 21-year-old was reportedly driving a vehicle that struck and killed three civilians on a motorcycle. Initial reports suggested he was sober at the time of the incident, but it now appears as though he may have been under the influence of alcohol. If the top-100 prospect is convicted, his MLB career is likely over. It is a terrible and mournful situation on all fronts.

Josh Rojas Heads To Injured List With Back Inflammation

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Josh Rojas was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with back inflammation. The 26-year-old slashed .180/.257/.180 across 61 at-bats in 2020. He never looked comfortable at the plate this season and will now have the entire offseason to better himself. A full-time role in 2021 is not guaranteed at this point as the Diamondbacks have younger options vying for playing time.

Chadwick Tromp Placed On Injured List

San Francisco Giants catcher Chadwick Tromp (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday afternoon. The 25-year-old missed Monday's game for undisclosed reasons, but it appears he suffered a strained right shoulder on Sunday. In his absence, Joey Bart will continue to see the majority of playing time behind the plate. Bart only has fantasy value in NL-only leagues or two-catcher formats.

Sean Rodriguez Goes Unclaimed On Waivers

Miami Marlins infielder Sean Rodriguez has passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment on Sunday. The 35-year-old posted a .154 average across 13 at-bats in 2020 with six strikeouts. There was simply no use for him on the Marlins, and his MLB career may be coming to an end. Rodriguez has no fantasy value until further notice, as Brian Anderson will remain the everyday third baseman for the team.
