Seranthony Dominguez Hasn't Had Second Opinion

It's still unclear whether Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery. Because of the coronavirus, Dominguez hasn't been able to get a second opinion on his arm from orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. General manager Matt Klentak said a decision on Dominguez's surgery won't be made until he gets the second opinion. All signs point to the reliever having surgery, which would keep him out the rest of this season and for the start of 2021. The 25-year-old only threw 24 2/3 innings in 2019 because of his arm injury, but he was solid in 2018 with a 2.95 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings and 16 saves. Until further notice, Dominguez is off the fantasy radar.

Anthony Rizzo Is Heating Up

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo went yard for his 10th home run of the season on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Rizzo has heated up lately and finished the game 2-for-3. The first baseman is getting hot at the right time for both the Cubs and fantasy managers and he is now hitting .220 with 10 home runs and 23 RBI. Managers should feel good about Rizzo as the season winds down.

Travis Shaw Dealing With Back Spasms

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Travis Shaw was a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup due to back spasms. In his absence, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. filled in at first base while Randal Grichuk served as the designated hitter. Shaw is being treated as day-to-day, but he is not a sizable loss for fantasy managers either way. He owns a .233/.307/.397 slash line with five homers and 14 RBI across 146 at-bats in 2020. Leave Shaw on the waiver wire for the remainder of the season.

Reynaldo Lopez Throws Well On Tuesday

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez put together another good outing on Tuesday versus the Indians. Lopez has really responded since being recalled from the teams alternative site, after a rough start to his season. Lopez managed to allow just three hits, one run, two walks and struck out three over five innings. Lopez is lined up to close the regular season out with a start against the Cubs on Sunday.

Oneil Cruz's Career In Jeopardy Following Car Crash

Pittsburgh Pirates infield prospect Oneil Cruz may be facing a lengthy jail sentence following a tragic car crash in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday. The 21-year-old was reportedly driving a vehicle that struck and killed three civilians on a motorcycle. Initial reports suggested he was sober at the time of the incident, but it now appears as though he may have been under the influence of alcohol. If the top-100 prospect is convicted, his MLB career is likely over. It is a terrible and mournful situation on all fronts.

Josh Rojas Heads To Injured List With Back Inflammation

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Josh Rojas was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with back inflammation. The 26-year-old slashed .180/.257/.180 across 61 at-bats in 2020. He never looked comfortable at the plate this season and will now have the entire offseason to better himself. A full-time role in 2021 is not guaranteed at this point as the Diamondbacks have younger options vying for playing time.

Chadwick Tromp Placed On Injured List

San Francisco Giants catcher Chadwick Tromp (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday afternoon. The 25-year-old missed Monday's game for undisclosed reasons, but it appears he suffered a strained right shoulder on Sunday. In his absence, Joey Bart will continue to see the majority of playing time behind the plate. Bart only has fantasy value in NL-only leagues or two-catcher formats.

Sean Rodriguez Unclaimed On Waivers

Miami Marlins infielder Sean Rodriguez has passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment on Sunday. The 35-year-old posted a .154 average across 13 at-bats in 2020 with six strikeouts. There was simply no use for him on the Marlins, and his MLB career may be coming to an end. Rodriguez has no fantasy value until further notice, as Brian Anderson will remain the everyday third baseman for the team.

Justin Turner Dealing With Hamstring Discomfort

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner is reportedly dealing with hamstring discomfort, according to manager Dave Roberts. Turner was a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup. It is a problematic ailment, as it was the same hamstring that caused Turner to miss a handful of games in early September. It would not be surprising to see the Dodgers rest the veteran infielder until the postseason. Expect Edwin Rios to fill in at the hot corner for most of the final week.

Matt Strahm Activated Off Of Injured List

San Diego Padres pitcher Matt Strahm (knee) was activated off of the 10-day injured list on Tuesday afternoon. The 28-year-old has not appeared in a game since Sept. 10 due to knee inflammation. Strahm owns a stingy 2.84 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and 14/3 K/BB through 19 innings out of the bullpen in 2020. He is a viable source of ratios for fantasy managers but offers little else in the way of value.

Daniel Mengden Passes Through Waivers Unclaimed

Oakland Athletics pitcher Daniel Mengden was optioned to the team's alternate training site on the weekend and passed through waivers on Tuesday afternoon. The 27-year-old posted a combined 12-8 record with a 4.31 ERA across the 2018 and 2019 seasons, but a positive COVID-19 test derailed his 2020 season. The team had no room for Mengden on their roster, but the assumption is that another club will take a chance on him during the offseason. He has shown flashes of effectiveness at the MLB level.
