José Soriano News
The Los Angeles Angels will be starting right-hander Jose Soriano on Tuesday in the second game of a four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Soriano is set to make his second start of the season, as he started back on April 10 against the Rays going four innings allowing four runs on six hits in the loss. Soriano is 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA this season, as he's pitched 10 innings allowing seven runs on 10 hits, including three homers.
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Jose Soriano has been named the starter for Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The organization has decided to stretch him out as a starter likely due to the fact they've had multiple injuries in their rotation. Soriano is expected to throw around 60 pitches during Wednesday's outing. That means Soriano could give them four or five innings depending on how it goes for him. He's worth keeping an eye on as a possible streaming option.
Los Angeles Angels right-hander Jose Soriano will be stretched out as a starter this spring and will start Saturday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He still has a chance to end up in the bullpen but new Angels skipper Ron Washington wanted to give the 25-year-old a crack at the rotation. Soriano made his big-league debut in the 2023 season when he pitched to a 3.64 ERA alongside a big-time 30.3% K%, albeit alongside a 12.4% BB%, across 38 appearances. He made the jump to the bigs straight from Double-A where he posted a 4.24 ERA in 17 appearances (two starts). He struck out a hefty 29.8% of batters in Double-A but also walked 15.4% of the hitters he faced. His big strikeout numbers could be something to watch if he is able to crack the Angels' rotation in 2024.
