Julio Rodríguez News
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez finally got on the board in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Rangers. Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk, and a strikeout. The 23-year-old has started hitting for average but is still searching for power, slashing .278/.323/.344 with 10 RBI and six steals in 96 plate appearances. It's only a matter of time before he finds his power swing, so fantasy managers shouldn't be worried.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez is not in the team's starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Rodriguez has struggled mightily in the early going, so this off day is likely giving him a chance to reset. The 23-year-old was a fantasy star last season, but he is carrying a dismal .186/.238/.203 slash line with no home runs and 21 strikeouts to start 2024. Luke Raley will get the start in centerfield and bat eighth with Rodriguez sidelined. Raley managed to hit 19 homers last season, but he is not a recommended fantasy option on Sunday.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 0-for-1 with a pair of walks on Thursday versus the Cincinnati Reds in Cactus League action. The 23-year-old has been having a great spring and is hitting .417 with a homer, five RBI and one stolen base in just 24 at-bats. Rodriguez backed up his stellar rookie season with another strong campaign in 2023 and continues to ascend as one of the best baseball players in the world. With his ability to help with big numbers across the board, he can safely be one of the first players off the board in upcoming drafts as he should continue to add to already impressive resume.

If it wasn't for Ronald Acuna Jr., Julio Rodriguez would be in the conversation for being the number one pick in drafts. He followed up his rookie season by hitting .275/.333/.485 with 32 homers, 103 RBI, 102 runs and 37 stolen bases in 155 games. His 24.5% K% and 6.6% BB% aren't as good as some of the other elite hitters but his contact numbers make up for that. Rodriguez's 92.7 MPH average exit velocity and 52.0% HardHit% both ranked in the 95th percentile. His 29.6 ft/sec average sprint speed was in the 96th percentile so he had elite power and speed in 2023, all at the age of 22 years old. Rodriguez is the definition of a five-category contributor in fantasy. There isn't any reason to believe there'll be regression in 2024 as Rodriguez had very similar expected numbers to his actual ones. There's no shortage of young star hitters atop draft boards and Rodriguez certainly belongs in that company. We now have two years of numbers from Rodriguez and they all tell us he's worth a top-five pick. It wouldn't take much for him to end the year as the number-one player in fantasy.
