Mauricio Dubón News
The Houston Astros activated infielder/outfielder Mauricio Dubon on Sunday. He will be filling the roster spot of infielder Niko Goodrum, who was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land. Dubon was traded to the Astros from the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. He gives the team a great deal of versatility in the field as he has played second and third base as well as shortstop and outfield in the majors. Over 21 games with the Giants this year, the 27-year-old slashed .239/.245/.391 with two home runs, eight RBI and 10 runs.
The San Francisco Giants optioned Mauricio Dubon to Triple-A on Tuesday while also recalling infielder Thairo Estrada. Dubon had played second base, third base, shortstop and center field for San Francisco this season but struggled at the plate. The 26-year-old hit just .234 with a .272 on-base percentage, five home runs and a pair of stolen bases in 169 plate appearances. He's probably someone you can drop, even in deeper leagues. Estrada was hitting .385 with a 1.057 OPS in 174 Triple-A plate appearances this season. Capable of playing second base, third base and shortstop, he'll join a somewhat crowded Giants infield mix. Even with Tommy La Stella, Evan Longoriaand Brandon Belt on the injured list, San Francisco still has Donovan Solano, Wilmer Floresand Brandon Crawford at Estrada's primary positions.
San Francisco Giants second baseman/outfielder Mauricio Dubon had a nice day at the plate in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Angels, going 2-for-4 with a single and a solo home run. Dubon jumped on a second-inning Andrew Heaney fastball and put it over the center-field wall for his fifth HR of the season. The 26-year-old has not brought a ton to the fantasy table this season, slashing .245/.280/.395 with 20 RBI. His lack of high-end average and power limits his fantasy value in all formats at this time.
