Cincinnati Reds left-hander Alex Wood struggled in a 14-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday. Wood gave up five runs (four earned) over 5 1/3 innings of work while striking out one. The loss dropped Wood's record to 1-3, to go along with a 6.07 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings of work. The veteran left-hander's performance in Cincinnati has not come close to his Dodgers days. That being said, his next start comes against the Miami Marlins, so he will be worth streaming for that outing next week.
Cincinnati Reds left-hander Alex Wood struggled in a 5-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. Wood allowed five runs (four earned) over five innings of work. He struck out six and walked one in the outing. Wood's record drops to 1-2 to go along with a 5.92 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings of work. He missed most of the season with a back issue and continues to try to shake the rust off. Wood is worth owning in National League-only formats and in deeper mixed leagues.
Cincinnati Reds left-hander Alex Wood pitched well in a 3-1 loss to the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. Wood gave up three runs over five innings while striking out four and walking none. The start lowered Wood's ERA to 5.59 with 15 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings of work. Wood made just his fourth start of the season after spending most of the year on the injured list with a back issue. Based on his past performance, Wood is worth an add in deeper leagues if you need pitching help. He is slated to take on the St. Louis Cardinals in his next start, which comes on Sunday.
