Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera (back) said he will likely be ready to pitch on Wednesday after being unavailable both Monday and Tuesday. His rough outing on Sunday against Boston (three hits and five earned runs in two-thirds of an inning) raised his ERA up to 5.29 on the season. He's the main setup man to closer Alex Colome, but Herrera doesn't warrant much attention in fantasy leagues if he's not getting regular save chances for the Pale Hose.
Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera (back) is day-to-day with back spasms, and he played catch on Monday. This doesn't look like an injury that will send Herrera to the injured list, but it's unknown when he'll make his return to game action. The 29-year-old allowed three hits and five earned runs in just two-thirds of an inning on Sunday to raise his ERA to 5.29 on the season in his 17 innings for the Pale Hose. With Alex Colome firmly entrenched as the closer, Herrera doesn't have much fantasy appeal right now.
Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera (back) left his appearance in Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox due to stiffness in his lower back. He is considered day to day. Something was certainly wrong, as he was hammered for five earned runs, three hits and two walks while retiring just two batters in the relief loss as he threw just 12 of his 24 pitches for strikes. Herrera slipped to 0-2 with a 5.29 ERA. When healthy he should mostly be avoided outside of the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues using true relievers.
