Marcell Ozuna News
Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna hit his second home run of the spring on Monday in a 4-0 Grapefruit League win over the Twins. Ozuna had started off the spring hot but his bat had gone cold as of late, going 2-for-17 over his last six games. The 33-year-old is still hitting .306 in the spring, going 15-for-49 with two doubles, two home runs, four RBI (three of which came on Monday's HR), and four runs scored. He's got just two walks compared to 16 strikeouts which is a bit concerning, but as long as he keeps hitting home runs that can be tolerated. The Braves have their Grapefruit finale on Tuesday before opening the season Thursday against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna is slashing .538/.600/..846 with a home run and three runs scored over six spring games. He bounced back in 2023 after a lackluster 2022. The 33-year-old blasted a career-high 40 home runs and collected 100 RBI over 592 plate appearances in 2023. Ozuna's production was backed up by career-highs in barrel rate (16.6%) and hard-hit rate (49%). He is projected to hit in the heart of the order in a loaded Braves lineup that includes Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley. Ozuna has always been a boom-or-bust player and only qualifies at utility in NFBC leagues. Despite the lack of position eligibility, Ozuna should pop 30-plus homers (ATC projects 30) and is a solid pick at his current NFBC ADP of 151.
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna continued his power surge in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rockies. Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a single, a solo home run, two RBI, a walk, and a strikeout. Despite a very rough start to the season, the 32-year-old has returned to being a fantasy asset and now owns a .267/.340/.529 slash line with 30 HR and 73 RBI. He should remain in fantasy managers' lineups at all times as long as he continues to hit for power.

Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna got off to a horrendous start in 2023, batting an almost unthinkable .085 (5-for-67) with a wRC+ of just 10 in the first month. Despite that, the veteran still managed to end the season with a .274 BA and a 139 wRC+, along with 40 HR, 100 RBI, 84 R, and a .381 WOBA. Thanks to an elite Barrel% of 16.6% (98th percentile), the 40 HR were a career-high. But can he keep it up? A career Barrel% of 10.5% suggests the HR should come again in 2024, but the 2x All-Star is entering his age-33 season, so a repeat of last season isn't likely. The good news is that almost every stat from 2023 fell near in-line with career numbers, including K%, Contact%, SwStr%, O-Swing%, BABIP, and average EV, so there's no pattern of diminishing abilities yet. ATC projections forecast a .255-30-83-72-1 line with a .346 WOBA and a 116 wRC+. RotoBaller ranks him at 150 overall, just ahead of his NFBC ADP of 155. 30-HR potential starts to dry up around his ADP, but if you miss or the age-related dropoff scares you, Christopher Morel has 30-HR upside 50 picks later and will be heading into his age-25 season.
