Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed two runs on four hits over three innings, while striking out three and walking one in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Padres. Eovaldi went back out for the fourth but a two-run homer by Eric Hosmer chased him from the game. The Red Sox rotation is broken and battered right now so the 29-year-old is back in the rotation. However, it seems that manager Alex Cora is either stretching him out over the remainder of the season or just uses Eovaldi as an extended opener. Over 17 appearances, he's 1-0 with a 6.64 ERA, a 5.86 FIP, and a 38/19 K/BB. He's slated to get a start on Friday against the Angels. However, he can't be used in fantasy again until he's allowed to go deeper into ballgames.
Boston Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed five runs on three in two complete inning, while striking out one and walking three in Sunday's 13-7 win over Baltimore. Boston's rotation is a disaster right now so the team shifted Eovaldi back to the rotation and it did not go as planned. Over 36 1/3 innings, Eovaldi is 1-0 with a 6.69 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts. He's well off the fantasy radar at his point, as his role is in limbo and his effectiveness hasn't returned either. It's safe to drop him in all formats and don't worry about picking him back up unless he really turns things around.
Boston Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi will draw the start against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. He was scheduled to start on Wednesday, but the team used him in relief instead. He's likely only going to throw around 60-70 pitches as the Red Sox want to build up his stamina has a starter again. Eovaldi won't have much streaming appeal while on a pitch count.
