Chaz Roe News
Tampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Chaz Roe (shoulder) will have season-ending surgery on his right shoulder on Wednesday. Roe has been out since April 2 and managed to pitch in just one game before being shut down with arm issues. The 34-year-old right-handed reliever was solid for the Rays in the shortened 2020 season, going 2-0 with a 2.89 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 9/3 K/BB in 10 relief appearances covering 9 1/3 innings. Roe is scheduled to become a free agent this offseason, so he might encounter somewhat of a cold market coming off serious arm surgery.
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chaz Roe was pulled from his rehab outing with Triple-A Durham on Thursday with right shoulder discomfort. He received an injection in his biceps and the timeline will be updated in two to three days. The Rays pitcher has been sidelined since the end of April with a shoulder strain. Roe will be shut down for a few days and it appears unlikely the right-hander returns before the All-Star break.
Tampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Chaz Roe (shoulder) is heading to the injured list with a shoulder strain, according to MLB.com's Adam Berry. Roe will be shut down from throwing for four to six weeks, and he could be out for as long as 12 weeks. He has been a solid, high-strikeout middle reliever for the Rays over the past few years, but he struggled this spring as he allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings, while also striking out six in that span. Roe doesn't have any value outside of SV/HLD formats, but for managers who have him rostered you should be looking for a replacement and can drop him safely.
