Ketel Marte News
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte is getting a day off on Tuesday with the team facing the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. This will be Marte's first game off of the season after he started in each of the team's first 11 games, going 13-for-46 (.283) with three home runs, seven RBI, a stolen base and 11 runs scored in 53 plate appearances. Marte has gone hitless in his last nine trips to the plate, though. He should be back in the lineup on Wednesday for the series finale in Colorado. Jace Peterson is starting at second and is batting sixth in the lineup on Tuesday versus Rockies right-hander Cal Quantrill. Peterson has little DFS upside as a sleeper and is hitless in his only career at-bat against Quantrill.
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte continued his hot hitting with his second home run in as many games in a 6-5 loss to the Braves on Friday. It was the only hit in the game for the veteran, going 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, but he's still batting .353 to begin the year. After a hot spring, the former All-Star has continued to hit in the regular season, collecting 12 hits in his first eight games including four multi-hit performances. The switch hitter also has five RBI, 10 runs scored, and a stolen base. He ranks third in fantasy points for second basemen behind just Mookie Betts and Spencer Steer. He'll look to stay hot Saturday against LHP Max Fried, whom he is 2-for-8 off of with a walk in his career.
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte went 2-for-3 with a single, a triple, and a run scored in Tuesday's 10-3 Cactus League loss to the Texas Rangers. That makes it three straight spring games with a hit for Marte, going 5-for-7 (.714) with a walk and he's also been hit by a pitch (.778 OBP). Marte had a hit in 16 straight postseason games in 2023 before going 0-for-2 (with three walks) in the final game of the World Series, so it looks like he hasn't missed a beat. Last year's NLCS MVP projects for another productive season at the plate although, as far as second baseman go, you can find others who will steal many more than the eight stolen by Marte last season. NFBC ADP has the 30-year-old going around pick 116, but RotoBaller likes him at 100th overall.

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte saw his power numbers reach pre-pandemic totals in 2023 as he crushed 25 long balls, the second most only to his 2019 total of 32. Much of this is credited to his 91.1 mph average exit velocity rate, which is above the league average, and his 117.1 mph max exit velocity rate, which is in the top 2% of all batters. The 30-year-old also improved his on-base skills by lowering his strikeout rate from 18.1% to 16.8% and raising his walk rate from 9.9% to 10.9%, which were well above league average and finished last season with a .358 OBP. Another positive for Marte is that he will be batting consistently in the top half of a strong Arizona lineup. That gives him an excellent chance to not only bring in runs but score them as well. He sits just outside the top-10 in second baseman in Roto scoring and is currently being drafted at an ADP of 119 on NFBC, making him a safe investment in 2024. His ranking gives him a strong chance to not only live up to that positioning, but he could also outperform it. ATC projects Marte to maintain his strong on-base skills with a .351 OBP and a slight dip in power with 18 round-trippers in 2024.
