The Philadelphia Phillies bolstered their depth at the Triple-A level on Tuesday by signing veteran infielder Ryan Goins to a minor league contract. The 30-year-old had previously been with the Kansas City Royals this year, hitting .226 with eight doubles and six RBI in 41 games. The 30-year-old had been assigned to Triple-A Omaha with the Royals before signing with the Phillies. While he has major league experience, it seems unlikely that he makes an impact with the big league club, as there are enough infielders on the roster currently constituted.
Free-agent infielder Ryan Goins is being considered by the Kansas City Royals, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. Heyman says that Kansas City "are looking at" the slick-fielding Goins as a potential fit as a utility infielder behind Raul Mondesi, Whit Merrifield and Cheslor Cuthbert. The 29-year-old is a career .228/.275/.335 hitter over parts of five seasons in the majors.
Free-agent infielder Ryan Goins is being considered by the New York Mets, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Goins was non-tendered by the Blue Jays earlier this month after batting .237/.286/.356 in 459 plate appearances in 2017. This report is not going to excite Mets fans, but the 29-year-old has a strong reputation as a defender and is capable of playing all over the infield.
