Francisco Lindor News
New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor had a dreadful start to the 2024 season, but signs of life are finally starting to show. The 30-year-old kicked off his campaign mired in a remarkable 1-for-31 slump. Thankfully, since April 7 he has managed to bat .261 with one home run, eight runs scored and a 5/3 BB/K. His production is still a far cry from the 31 homer, 31 stolen base season he produced in 2023, but Lindor is simply too talented to not turn things around. Fantasy managers should expect him to hit a true hot streak soon.
New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor (elbow) said that he played through a lot of discomfort last season, but his elbow is feeling really good heading into the 2024 campaign. President of baseball operations David Stearns hinted that Lindor wouldn't have any restrictions on him in spring training after he had surgery in October to remove a bone spur from his right elbow. The 30-year-old All-Star didn't actually miss any time due to the injury in 2023, ultimately finishing with a .254/.336/.470 slash line, 31 home runs and 31 stolen bases in 160 games played. It was the first time he had an OPS above .800 since 2019, which is impressive considering he was playing hurt. RotoBaller currently has him ranked just outside the top-30 overall players for 2024.
New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor (elbow) had surgery on Tuesday to remove a bone spur from his right elbow. The Mets are saying that Lindor is expected to be fully ready for the start of spring training next year. It's a notable development heading into the offseason, but it shouldn't affect the 29-year-old for next season. Lindor got off to an ice-cold start in 2023 in his third season with the team, much like most of the team, and he finished with a .254/.336/.470 slash line with an .806 OPS, 31 home runs, 33 doubles, two triples, 98 RBI, 31 stolen bases and 108 runs scored in 160 games played. Despite being a disappointment in the average department, Lindor produced his first 30-30 season in his ninth big-league campaign.

Last year, Francisco Lindor hit .254/.336/.470 with 31 homers, 98 RBI, 108 runs and 31 stolen bases. He was one of four players to have a 30/30 season with the other three all going inside the first five picks of drafts. Lindor was one of the biggest beneficiaries of the new rules that saw stolen bases up across the league, topping the 26 steals he had in the previous two seasons combined. Last year also made it back-to-back seasons in which Lindor has played 160 games. He's now missed just 70 games in the last eight seasons, making him one of the most consistent and reliable hitters in baseball. Lindor's expected numbers were similar to his actual ones and there's nothing to suggest we'll see any regression in 2024. That includes concerns about the Mets lineup. The Mets ranked 20th in runs scored (717) last year and while their pitching staff isn't as good on paper, their offense projects to be better. Maybe Lindor won't reach 30 steals again, but his 28.2 ft/sec sprint speed was his best since 2018. He's not showing signs of slowing down with the bat or on the bases and should remain a fantasy star in 2024.
