Trea Turner News
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner extended his hitting streak to seven games as his team held on for a 7-6 win over the Colorado Rockies, going 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Turner went back-to-back with teammate Kyle Schwarber with a long ball as the Phils ambushed Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner for four runs in the first inning, later doubling to lead off the fifth and scoring a run during the frame. The 32-year-old fantasy superstar is off to a much better start than that of his Philly debut season in 2023, now slashing a potent .329/.386/.487 with two big flies, six RBI, 12 runs scored, and seven stolen bases through 19 outings in 2024 following Wednesday's three-hit attack. Turner looks to stay hot during an upcoming weekend series at home versus the Chicago White Sox. In six games against Chicago since 2022, Turner is hitting .292 with two homers, four RBI, and three thefts across 22 at-bats.
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-3 with a walk and stolen base in Tuesday's loss against the St. Louis Cardinals. The stolen base would be his fourth on the young season. Turner had a slow first week of the season, but has now hits safely five times over his last eight at-bats. Managers should not have ever worried with Turner and he remains of the best options at the shortstop position and in general with his ability to help all across the board. It also does not hurt that he hits near the top of a good lineup. Turner will bring his .295 batting average into Wednesday's series finale against veteran Lance Lynn.
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 1-for-2 with a single and a walk in Friday's 4-3 Grapefruit League loss to the Tigers. The speedster also stole a base, his second of the spring. The veteran is having a solid but unspectacular spring, hitting just .268 (11-for-41) with four doubles, zero home runs, two RBI, one runs scored, and two stolen bases. The 2x All-Star has drawn three walks while striking out ten times. You don't want to put too much stock into spring stats, but Turner got off to a slow start last season so it would be comforting for managers to see him with a little more momentum heading into the season. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old is still a top option at shortstop with his power-speed combo which, like last season, can buoy his fantasy value even if the batting average isn't there.

Before a standing ovation from the Phillies faithful jump started an offensive resurgence for their $300 million shortstop, Trea Turner had an abysmal first year in Philadelphia. Two seasons removed from a batting title, Turner slashed just .247/.299/.389 through 88 first-half games. However, the 30-year-old nearly tripled his OPS in the second half and significantly cut down his strikeouts. The one thing that remained consistent in Turner's first year was his speed, as he nabbed 30 bags without being caught in 155 games. It's safe to say that in Turner's second full season in Philly, he'll appear more comfortable in his new digs. ATC projects Turner to bat .293 with 22 home runs, 81 RBI, and 30 stolen bases in 2024. The two-time All-Star's 10.5 ADP is accurate as he can service fantasy owners in many ways, and he will likely return to form offensively in 2024.
