Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola (rest) won't make his final start of the season on Sunday versus the Miami Marlins. The Phillies are out of contention, so they see no reason to bother starting Nola one more time. He finished with a 3.87 ERA with 229 strikeouts in 34 starts with the team. The Phillies have not announced who is going to take the mound for Sunday's contest.
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola allowed five runs in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday night at Washington. It is the second straight start for Nola allowing at least five runs in less than six innings. Nola was solid through five, but everything came undone in the sixth when Nola loaded the bases before being pulled. Reliever Jared Hughes came into the game and promptly served up a grand slam adding three more earned runs to Nola's total. Despite the tough pitching line, Nola at least contributed with nine strikeouts and will be a must-start option Sunday when he has a great matchup against the Marlins.
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola allowed five runs in five innings and took his sixth loss of the season Thursday in Atlanta. There was traffic all over the bases as Nola allowed nine hits and two walks while only striking out four on the afternoon. This is now the second time in his last four starts Nola has failed to record an out in the sixth inning as he's been on a run of rough matchups. Despite the recent struggles, Nola is a must-start fantasy ace with a 10.7 percent swinging-strike rate that's lead to 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings. He'll face another tough test Tuesday in Washington against Max Scherzer and the Nationals.
