San Diego Padres outfielder Manuel Margot is out of Thursdays series finale against the Chicago Cubs. Margot carried the Friars to victory on Wednesday, collecting three knocks in four at-bats with a homer, two runs and a steal. After being benched earlier this season, Margot has rebounded to post a respectable .246/.318/.411 slash with 12 dingers, converting 20 of 22 stolen base attempts. Demonstrating the tantalizing power/speed potential he flashed in 2017, the 24-year-old is making his case to remain in the Friars long-term plans. With his excellent defense and improved plate discipline, he can certainly be a well-rounded weapon if he finds consistency. With a strong finish, Margot is suddenly back in the mix as a solid asset.
San Diego Padres outfielders Hunter Renfroe and Manuel Margot are out of Fridays lineup against the Colorado Rockies. The Friars will defer to Nick Martini and Wil Myers to man the left and center outfield spots, respectively. Renfroe is mired in an extended slump, hitting just .171 in his last 70 at-bats and searching for his first homer since August 10. Margot has enjoyed a decent campaign in 2019 with 11 homers and 19 steals but is just slashing .241/.314/.397 on the year. While neither players are unanimously fantasy-relevant, managers hoping for power (Renfroe) or speed (Margot) from them on Friday should reset lineups accordingly.
San Diego Padres outfielder Manuel Margot launched a two-run homer in Thursdays win against the San Francisco Giants. Margot was falling out of favor midway through the season but hes turned it around, homering eight times and swiping nine bags since July. For the year hes still slashing just .239/.315/.405 with 11 dingers and 84 runs-plus-RBI. Positively, Margot has greatly improved his plate discipline and is a solid 19 for 20 in steals. Still just 24 years old, Margot is coming on strong down the stretch, making him fantasy relevant for September and in longer-term leagues.
