Chicago White Sox outfielder Ryan Cordell has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of Thursday's game against the Mets. The 27-year-old will take the active roster spot of third baseman Yoan Moncada, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain on Wednesday. Cordell appeared in 69 games earlier this season, but recorded totals of five home runs and 18 RBI, along with a .234/.286/.354 slash line. Cordell will not have any significant fantasy value behind Eloy Jimenez, Leury Garcia, Jon Jay, and Adam Engel in the outfield.
Chicago White Sox right fielder Ryan Cordell, who was promoted earlier Thursday, went 3-for-4 with his second home run of the season as the White Sox fell to the Tigers by a score of 7-9. His home run came in the seventh inning against Detroit starter Tyson Ross and provided his only run and RBI of the day. While the 27-year-old looks to remain a staple in the rebuilding White Sox lineup for the time being, he has never hit more than 19 home runs in a minor league season and can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.
The Chicago White Sox have demoted outfielder Ryan Cordell to Triple-A. Cordell made a strong impression this as he hit .317 in 41 at-bats. Manager Rick Renteria praised Cordell, but wants him to get more seasoning in Triple-A. Outfielder Adam Engel is now expected to round out the White Sox outfield. Engel is having a strong spring and is worth a flier at the end of upcoming drafts.
