Adam Plutko News
Former Cleveland Guardians pitcher Adam Plutko is eyeing a return to the big leagues after spending the last two seasons with LG of the KBO. His stint overseas was a big success as the right-hander worked to a 2.39 ERA across 28 starts in the 2022 season before tossing a 2.41 ERA in 21 starts in the 2023 campaign. Now 32, Plutko has been unable to maintain success in the big leagues. He most recently worked to a 6.71 ERA across 38 appearances with the Orioles in the 2021 season and owns a 5.39 ERA across 88 MLB outings (37 starts), most of which came as a member of the Guardians. A successful return from the KBO to the big leagues isn't without precedence as the right-hander should be able to garner some interest following his work overseas.
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Adam Plutko picked up his first save of the season in Monday's 9-7 win over the Astros. Plutko entered the game in the ninth inning up by three with one out and runners on first and second. He issued a walk to load the bases, then allowed a sac fly to make the game 9-7, but got a fly out to end the game. Plutko has not seen many save opportunities this season and owns a 5.45 ERA, so it is unlikely that he will start seeing more high-leverage situations. As such, his fantasy value remains very limited.
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Adam Plutko turned in another disappointing outing to bring the O's loss streak to 14 in Monday's 3-2 extra-innings loss to the Twins. Plutko entered the game to pitch the 10th inning with the game tied and an automatic runner on second base. He induced a groundout to get the first out while the runner advanced to third. He then allowed that runner to score on a wild pitch, making the score 2-1. He struck Andrelton Simmons out for the second out, but then allowed a solo home run and a double before getting the third out. The inability to come up in the clutch or produce fundamentally-sound results is something that has plagued the entire O's team this season, and Plutko has not been an exception. He is now 1-2 with a 4.61 ERA over 27 1/3 innings pitched. He does not hold much fantasy value at this time given his current role in the bullpen.
