Taylor Ward News
Los Angeles outfielder Taylor Ward went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-3 spring loss to the Chicago Cubs. Ward took Keegan Thompson deep in the bottom of the sixth inning for his first home run of spring training. The 30-year-old has had a solid spring, slashing .286/.375/.457 with a home run, six RBI, and five runs scored over 14 games during spring training. His 2023 season ended prematurely. Ward suffered multiple facial fractures after being hit by a pitch in the face against the Blue Jays in July. He is slated to be the Angels' starting left fielder and is projected to hit fifth in the team's lineup. Ward has an NFBC ADP of 221 in March and has a chance to pop 20-plus homers in 2024, making him a solid pick at his current price tag in upcoming fantasy drafts.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (face) is in camp with the team and said he feels 100 percent after being hit in the face by a pitch that ended his 2023 season last July. He plans to face live pitching for the first time in spring training this Saturday. It was already reported last week that the Angels didn't have any plans to hold the 30-year-old back in spring training, so he should be ready to roll for Opening Day after he had surgery in August to fix several facial fractures. The Halos will be hoping Ward can step up in 2024 as one of the more prominent offensive weapons and starting left fielder. Injuries have held him to fewer than 100 games in each of the last two seasons, but Ward was productive before his injury last year, slashing .253/.335/.421 with 14 home runs, 47 RBI, four stolen bases and 60 runs scored in 97 games played.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (face) will be "good to go, Day 1" for spring training after he was hit by a pitch last July that resulted in three facial fractures and a broken nose that required surgery. Ward has been hitting in the cages since Nov. 15 and had his last doctor's checkup in Anaheim just over a week ago. The Angels will need the 30-year-old to step up in 2024 now that two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ward will be a starter this year for the Halos in left field after hitting .253/.335/.421 with 14 home runs, 18 doubles, 47 RBI, four stolen bases and 60 runs scored in 97 games played. He's unlikely to return to his All-Star level of 2022 when he hit .281 with a career-high 23 home runs, but Ward can still provide fantasy managers with solid contact and power skills in the later rounds.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward has been a solid contributor over the last three seasons but has only played over 100 games once in that span. Ward had a .281/.360/.473 slash line in 2022 when he played 135 games. That season, he had 22 doubles and 23 home runs. In 2023, the 30-year-old took a bit of a step back and was injured in the final months after being hit in the face. He would end the season with 18 doubles and 14 home runs in 97 games. Ward does have some platoon splits, hitting much better against lefties last season, but he may be in line to start the season in a full-time role in 2024. The California native had a .234/.322/.383 slash line against righties in 2023 but hit nine of his home runs against pitchers of that side. His ADP of 286.3 is well off from his RotoBaller rank of 188, so you may be able to get a deal during draft day. Depending on his place in the reshaped Angels order, he could either contribute in runs or RBI, but the other one may be lacking, thus making him a two-category contributor.
