Jake Fraley News
Cincinnati Reds outfielders Jake Fraley and Will Benson are not in Saturday's lineup against the Chicago White Sox. Benson and Fraley will sit versus White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet. Both outfielders should be available off the bench and will look to re-enter the starting lineup for the series finale on Sunday. Bubba Thompson and Stuart Fairchild will replace Benson and Fraley in the outfield. Thompson is starting in center field, batting eighth, and is hitting .250 (2-for-8) with four stolen bases over nine games this season. Fairchild is starting in right field, hitting fifth and slashing .304/.385/.304 with four stolen bases over nine games in 2024. Fairchild and Thompson are deep-league streamers at best in a tough matchup against Crochet.
Cincinnati Reds outfielders Jake Fraley and Nick Martini are both sitting out on Monday versus a left-handed hitter. Fraley is fantasy relevant in mixed leagues because of his dominance against right-handed pitching, but he's been on the bench for two of the first four games against left-handed pitchers. The 28-year-old has otherwise started hot, getting a hit in five of his first eight at-bats of the year with a stolen base and two runs scored for the Reds. Martini is also on the bench for the second time against a lefty, but he went 4-for-8 with two home runs and seven RBI in the two games he's playing to open things up. Will Benson is in right field and is batting ninth, while Stuart Fairchild is in center for the Reds and is hitting seventh on Monday against Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez.
Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell said that second baseman Matt McLain (shoulder) and outfielder Jake Fraley (groin) should both be fine. McLain was scratched from Monday's Cactus League lineup due to left-shoulder soreness, while Fraley was removed from the game early after fouling a pitch off a sensitive area. McLain is scheduled to be back in the spring lineup on Wednesday, but the Reds may give him another day just to be safe. The 24-year-old has played in just five Cactus League games this spring due to an oblique injury that he also dealt with last year. But he should be ready for Opening Day on March 28 and is going to be the Reds' starting second baseman. Fraley has mixed-league value in the strong-side of a platoon because he mashes right-handers.

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley is not an everyday player for the club but remains on the strong solid of a platoon whether it be in left or right field while seeing additional time at designated hitter. The 28-year-old dealt with back, wrist, and toe injuries in the 2023 season but still managed to appear in 111 games, hitting .256 with 15 home runs, 21 stolen bases, and a .782 OPS across 380 trips to the plate. A healthy season likely puts him closer to 450 plate appearances as ATC projects 16 home runs and 18 stolen bases across 440 plate appearances for Fraley in the 2024 campaign. Considering Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati is not only the homer-friendliest venue in the league with a 131 home run factor over the last three seasons, as per Statcast, but it also sports a139 mark for left-handed hitters, by far the highest in baseball. Fraley still holds value at his 342.74 ADP despite the lack of an everyday role.
