The Philadelphia Phillies placed relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez (elbow) on the 10-day injured list with a UCL injury to his right elbow. The injury could lead to season-ending Tommy John surgery, but he is getting a second opinion. The Phillies recalled reliever Ranger Suarez from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. Dominguez was 3-0 with a 4.01 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 29 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings, but he wasn't of much use to fantasy owners with zero saves. Juan Nicasio may be the setup man to closer Hector Neris now in this beat up bullpen.
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez (elbow) faced three batters Wednesday, then walked off the mound with a sore elbow. He is headed for an MRI Thursday. Dominguez recorded his ninth hold of the season during Wednesday's game and his second hold in as many days. There will be more clarity after the MRI results, but it would appear a stint on the Injured List is somewhat likely.
The Philadelphia Phillies' playoff chances are looking bleaker by the day and Tuesday night's game against the Washington Nationals felt like a major blow. The club, coming off a loss in the first game of the day, held a 6-3 lead heading into the ninth inning. Seranthony Dominguez, who first entered the game in the eighth inning, surrendered three runs in the ninth, watching the tying run come around to score from the dugout after getting pulled. While he wasn't charged with the blown save, his performance clearly was the main factor. The rookie wasn't effective and was undisciplined, walking three batters.
