William Contreras News
Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras went 4-for-5 with two home runs, five RBI, and three runs scored in Sunday's 12-4 win over the Seattle Mariners. His first home run came off of Seattle Mariners starter Emerson Hancock, launching a hanging slider to the left field seats. His second home run came off of a position player in Josh Rojas, who was in the game to preserve bullpen arms for the Mariners. For the season thus far, Contreras is hitting to a tune of .387/.444/.677 with an OPS of 1.121. Look for Contreras to continue his excellent production from the catcher position, as he is one of the best offensive catchers in baseball.
Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras continued his strong Cactus League in Tuesday's loss against the Chicago Cubs. The backstop went 3-for-4 on the day with four RBI and a three-run homer. Hr is now hitting .310 with two homers and seven RBI in 29 at-bats. The All-Star catcher finally got the majority of playing in 2023 after being dealt from the Atlanta Braves and hit .289 with 17 homers and 78 RBI. The 26-year-old will run it back as the main man behind the dish in Milwaukee and a key part of their lineup in the upcoming season. Contreras will look to build off last seasons success and has Top-5 value at a position where it is hard to find much to begin with.
Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras is slashing .286/.286/.571 with a home run and three RBI over five games during spring training. Contreras became one of the top catchers in fantasy baseball after slashing .289/.367/.457 with 17 home runs, 78 RBI, 86 runs, and six stolen bases over 611 plate appearances in 141 games last season. Milwaukee values Contreras' bat in the lineup as the 26-year-old logged 29 starts as the team's designated hitter. His 48.7% hard-hit percentage was a career-high, and Contreras saw his K% decrease seven points from 27.7% in 2022 to 20.6% in 2023. He has an NFBC ADP of 75 and is the third catcher off the board after Adley Rutschman and J.T. Realmuto. Contreras should be in the lineup daily as he looks to build on last season's success in 2024. The former Atlanta Brave is easily a top-five fantasy catcher and a solid pick in upcoming drafts at his current ADP.

William Contreras emerged as one of the better catching options in 2022. Last year, he cemented his status as one of the best fantasy catchers. In 141 games (611 PAs), Contreras hit .289/.367/.457 with 17 homers, 78 RBI, 86 runs and six steals. Only Adley Rutschman had more plate appearances (687) than Contreras at the catcher position and that volume provides a solid floor. Among catchers with at least 250 plate appearances, Contreras ranked first in batting average and runs scored while also ranking in the top three for RBI and stolen bases. His 17 home runs were tied-16th but that still didn't stop Contreras from ending the season as the number one catcher in standard roto leagues. Despite that, he's still averaging as the third catcher taken in drafts. The Milwaukee offense ranked 17th in runs scored (728) last year but looks better heading into 2024 so Contreras shouldn't see a drop-off in the counting stats with the same volume. He ranked in the 93rd percentile for framing and 90th percentile for blocks above average, making his defensive abilities a route to maintaining that volume. Everything is pointing toward Contreras having another outstanding season.
