Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Caleb Ferguson will serve as the opener for Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Ross Stripling was expected to be scratched from this outing, but will actually come in out of the bullpen behind Ferguson. Stripling should be able to pitch around four or five innings in this one. However, DFS players should still probably look elsewhere for a reliable option since Stripling could be limited.
The Los Angeles Dodgers activated relief pitcher Joe Kelly from the bereavement list on Monday, and they optioned reliever Caleb Ferguson to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Kelly allowed runs in five of his first six appearances to start the season, as his ERA was an unsightly 12.27. However, he has managed just six runs over his past 11 appearances to slowly work it down to 7.79. Kelly still has a long way to go before he is fantasy-worthy again, even in deeper NL-only formats. Ferguson hasn't been much better, posting a 5.94 ERA in 17 appearances in 2019.
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Caleb Ferguson will get the start on Saturday against the Brewers in what will be a bullpen game. The Dodgers will attempt to get by in Hyun-Jin Ryu's rotation spot. Ferguson will essentially be the closer and will probably only go a few innings at the most. The left-hander hasn't allowed a run with eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 relief outings so far in 2019, but he won't be on the fantasy radar in his opener role on Saturday.
