Nick Margevicius Recalled on Wednesday

San Diego Padres pitcher Nick Margevicius has been recalled on Wednesday to likely pitch out of the bullpen versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reliever Trey Wingenter will be the opener, but Margevicius is expected to pitch a bulk of the innings out of the bullpen. Margevicius hasn't been reliable this season, so there is no reason to trust him now. He could have long-term fantasy potential, but he likely won't have any against the Dodgers.

Logan Allen Debuting Tuesday, Nick Margevicius Optioned

The San Diego Padres will promote starting pitcher Logan Allen to start Tuesdays game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Starter Nick Margevicius will be optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Allen, a 22-year-old southpaw, is the Padres No. 5 prospect and No. 61 overall in the majors. Through 13 starts in Triple-A, Allen posted a 5.15 ERA (4.76 FIP) in the PCL launching pad and will face a stiff test against the heavy-hitting Brew Crew. With his stay in the big leagues uncertain, Allen shouldnt be a trusted fantasy option. Meanwhile, Margevicius got off to a surprising start but has since fallen on hard times. After giving up nine earned runs on Sunday in Coors Field, he sits with an ugly 6.41 ERA and 1.58 WHIP. His demotion is likely indefinite until he irons things out.

Nick Margevicius Coming Up To Start Saturday

The San Diego Padres will recall starting pitcher Nick Margevicius from the minors in order to start on Saturday against the Marlins. The 22-year-old left-hander has been up and down in his nine starts for the Friars this year, posting a 2-5 record, 4.96 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 15 walks and 33 strikeouts over 45 1/3 innings in his rookie season. His mediocre 6.6 K/9 isn't very attractive for those in deeper leagues, and his 11 homers allowed in 45 1/3 innings is concerning as well. However, he'll be worth considering at Petco Park on Saturday against one of the worst offenses in baseball.
