Seranthony Domínguez News
Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Seranthony Dominguez tossed a scoreless inning to earn the save during Saturday's 2-1 win over the Washington Nationals. He entered the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead and tossed a perfect frame to earn his first save of the season. Philadelphia continues to use a closer-by-committee approach between Brad Hand and Dominguez after the Phillies removed Corey Knebel from the closer role earlier in the week. Dominguez has been excellent this season, posting a 1.73 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts over 26 innings. Fantasy managers searching for saves should add the Phillies right-hander in all league formats.
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez (elbow) could begin a rehab assignment later this week, according to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer. This news comes a few days before the one-year mark since undergoing Tommy John surgery, and reports say that Dominguez is currently throwing his fastball at about 93-94 mph. He saw time as the team's closer in 2018, but saw Hector Neris slide into the role full time in 2019. The Phillies closer situation currently is anything but set in stone, so it's possible that when Dominguez makes his return most likely in September according to Lauber that he could grab some saves down the stretch.
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez underwent successful Tommy John surgery on Thursday after months of wait. The flamethrowing right-hander was recommended for surgery back in March, and he will now need at least a year of recovery time. If all goes well, Dominguez could return to the Phillies in late 2021, but chances are he'll return in 2022. He still carries some deep dynasty appeal, but he'll have to re-establish himself to the club if he wants to earn the closing gig back.
