Teoscar Hernández News
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's Cactus League victory against the rival San Francisco Giants. Hernandez has been off to a hot start this spring with his third club in three seasons. The 31-year-old is now hitting .414 with one homer and four RBI over 29 at-bats. Apart from a shortened 2020 season, Hernandez hasn't hit less than 22 homeruns since 2018. With the Dodgers huge offseason, his signing may have flown under the radar, but managers should not forget to consider the outfielder as a solid OF2/3 option in mixed leagues.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a two-run double against the San Diego Padres on Thursday. Los Angeles never relinquished its early lead, slamming the door on their divisional foes by a score of 14-1. This was Hernandez's first game as a Dodger and he certainly made an impact, plating Mookie Betts and Chris Taylor with his extra-base hit. His contact skills, power, and job security give him significant fantasy value for the upcoming campaign.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez will "be an everyday guy" in his first year with the team in 2024, according to general manager Brandon Gomes. The Dodgers added Hernandez on a one-year, $23.5 million deal this offseason following a disappointing 2023 campaign with the Seattle Mariners in which he slashed .258/.305/.435 with 26 hoe runs, 29 doubles, two triples, 93 RBI, seven stolen bases and 70 runs scored in 160 games played. An everyday role in a much better lineup is going to raise the 31-year-old's fantasy draft price by itself. Despite decent counting stats for Seattle last season, Hernandez posted the lowest OPS (.740) since his rookie year and he struck out 31 percent of the time. Moving out of a pitcher-friendly park in Seattle should help him bounce back for the Dodgers. Hernandez is a buy candidate with 30-homer potential.

Newly acquired Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez has been a consistent source of power since 2018, blasting 22 or more homers each season, except for the shortened 2020 season. However, even then, he managed to hit 16 in just 50 games. Some positives come with that power, and in 2023, the righty produced 93 RBI and 70 R to go along with his 26 HR, but that also resulted in a high K% (31.1%) and low BB% (5.6%), which limits the AVG (.258) and the OBP (.305). Despite four consecutive years of declining wRC+, with a high of 142 in 2020 down to 105 in 2023, he's expected to have another productive year in L.A. that should resemble the stat line he put up last season. FGDC projections have him with a .258-30-92-77-7 line with a WOBA of .332 and wRC+ of 110. That's probably the ceiling for the 31-year-old, as his career Contact% of 67.5%, SwStr% of 16.2%, and O-Swing% of 33.7% will tend to limit any additional fantasy upside. The upgraded environment from Seattle to L.A. is already baked into the projection. RotoBaller has him appropriately ranked at 149 overall, similar to his NFBC ADP of 147.
