Gerald McCoy News
Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Gerald McCoy (knee) suffered a season-ending left knee injury in the Monday night overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens, according to sources. The former multi-year Pro Bowler will miss the rest of the 2021 season after missing all of 2020 with a ruptured right quadriceps muscle, so it's another tough blow for the 33-year-old. Damion Square was added to the roster on Tuesday for more defensive line depth. Quinton Jefferson and Darius Philon should both see more playing time for the Raiders with McCoy now on the shelf for the remainder of the season. Las Vegas' defense hasn't been respected in quite a while, but the emergence of pass-rusher Maxx Crosby has people noticing early this year. They'll be off the streaming radar in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Las Vegas Raiders defensive lineman Gerald McCoy is preparing for his eleventh NFL season and his first with the Silver and Black. The six-time Pro-Bowler hasn't played since 2019 after being sidelined with a preseason quadricep injury but has impressed thus far in training camp. The former first-round pick registered 54.5 sacks in his nine seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tallying at least five sacks per season since 2012. Despite McCoy's pedigree, fantasy managers should wait to see how he plays in preseason.
Free-agent defensive lineman Gerald McCoy (quadriceps), a six-time Pro Bowler, doesn't plan to retire after missing all of the 2020 season due to an injury. "I just know I have so much more to give this game, even if for a short period of time," McCoy said. The pass-rusher had 54.5 sacks in his nine seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as one of their top defensive playmakers. McCoy spent the 2019 season with the Carolina Panthers and signed with the Dallas Cowboys last year, but he tore his quadriceps in training camp. The 33-year-old former first-rounder doesn't want to go out with an injury. His agent, Ben Dogra, said that a few teams have inquired about McCoy's rehab, but he doesn't expect any serious offers until after the draft this month.
