TJ Yates News
Houston Texans quarterback T.J. Yates didn't finish his three-game stint as a starting quarterback on a bright note, going 14-for-24 for 137 yards and an interception in Houston's loss to the Colts. Yates was never part of Houston's long-term goals --Deshaun Watson (knee) should be back for the 2018 season -- but any hopes that the veteran could be a serviceable backup for Houston next year seem to have vanished after three consecutive poor performances. Yates doesn't have any fantasy value moving forward.
Houston Texans quarterback T.J. Yates hasn't played well after taking over for the injured Tom Savage, but his two starts have been against a pair of strong defenses in Jacksonville and Pittsburgh. This week against the Colts, Yates has a chance to prove he should be Houston's backup quarterback in 2018. He'll likely have to do it without top target DeAndre Hopkins, but Yates could rely on tight end Stephen Anderson and receivers Will Fuller and Braxton Miller more. Don't expect Yates to be a top-15 quarterback, but he's viable in deep two-quarterback leagues.
Houston Texans quarterback T.J. Yates didn't throw the ball much against the Steelers in Week 16, completing just seven of his 16 pass attempts for 83 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Yates also fumbled three times, though the Texans only lost one of them. Yates left the game in the second quarter and was evaluated for a concussion before returning. Despite Houston getting behind early, the team mostly relied on the running game, limiting what Yates was able to do. Houston plays the Colts in Week 17 and Yates is expected to start that game, but shouldn't be trusted in fantasy lineups.
