  • Dolphins Have High Hopes For Julius Thomas

Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen thinks tight end Julius Thomas can be "a 10-touchdown guy" if he can stay healthy in 2017. Thomas flamed out in Jacksonville, mainly due to injuries, after scoring 24 touchdowns in a two-season span with Denver. The soon-to-be 29-year-old tight end is reuniting with head coach Adam Gase -- Gase was Thomas' OC with the Broncos -- so the Dolphins are expected to design plays specifically for Thomas, especially in the red zone. Thomas got off to a slow start in offseason practices, but he and quarterback Ryan Tannehill have quickly been developing chemistry. In theory, Thomas should be in for a bounce-back season if he can stay healthy. That's a big if, but Thomas should be seen as a more enticing risk-reward low-end TE/high-end fantasy backup.

  • Julius Thomas Set Up For Success

Miami Dolphins tight end Julius Thomas could have a breakout year with his new team in 2017 if he can stay healthy. The Dolphins have designed multiple plays just for him. Staying healthy has been an issue for Thomas, as he's played in just 21 games in the last two seasons with the Jaguars. But he's reuniting with former Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase, and Gase loves to get tight ends involved, so Thomas will have every opportunity to revisit his glory days in Denver. For now, though, the 28-year-old should be selected as a fantasy backup with upside for more.

  • Julius Thomas A Work In Progress

The chemistry between Miami Dolphins tight end Julius Thomas and quarterback Ryan Tannehill remains a work in progress during organized team activities. Thomas, soon to be 29, was a fantasy bust his two seasons in Jacksonville, catching just nine touchdowns after combining for a whopping 24 in his last two years with the Broncos. Injuries have also been unkind to him. Miami is hoping Thomas will return to his Denver form now that he's reunited with Adam Gase, but the early returns aren't promising. That's not to say that he'll continue his inconsistent form to Miami, but it just reminds fantasy owners that Thomas is probably too risky to roster as a TE1 for now.
