Taiwan Jones News
Buffalo Bills running back Taiwan Jones was a favorite of former special teams coordinator Heath Farwell, but Jones may not have the roster certainty that he's enjoyed the last two years. He has participated in all four phases of the kick and return units, but he's also entering his age-34 season. The Bills might look to fill those roles with another player if Jones loses some of the explosiveness he uses on punt and kickoff coverage. He's probably on the right side of the roster bubble right now, but that could change this summer in training camp. Jones hasn't had a single carry in the last two seasons with Buffalo, and he's only been targeted twice in the passing game, so he's nowhere near the fantasy radar.
The Buffalo Bills re-signed running back Taiwan Jones to an undisclosed one-year deal. The 33-year-old will return as depth behind Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, but he also played a pivotal special teams role for the Bills last season. Jones appeared in 13 games, playing 47 percent of the teams snaps on special teams in 2020. Buffalo also re-signed top special teams ace Tyler Matakevich this offseason. On the offensive side of the ball, Jones played just four total offensive snaps last year, so fantasy managers can continue to ignore him in all leagues. In his 10-year NFL career with the Raiders, Bills and Texans, Jones has just 53 carries for 223 yards and no rushing touchdowns in 104 games (zero starts).
The Buffalo Bills are signing running back Taiwan Jones to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday, according to a source. Jones spent 2017 and 2018 with Buffalo before seeing only nine rushing attempts over 11 games in 2019 with the Texans. The Bills could use a little more running back depth with veteran Frank Gore expected to go elsewhere in free agency. The 31-year-old fourth-round pick of the Raiders in 2011 will be behind Devin Singletary and T.J. Yeldon with the Bills, though, so he'll have very little fantasy appeal, even in the deepest of leagues.
