  • Cam Newton Explodes With Monster Fantasy Performance

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton tore the Miami Dolphins defense to shreds, passing for 254 yards with four touchdown passes and adding 95 yards on the ground as the Panthers stomped over Miami 45-21. Newton overcame an early red-zone interception to complete 21 of 35 passes and also chipped in a 69-yard rush to boot. This is the former 'MVP' fantasy owners have been waiting for and he put easily his best stat line of the season. The Panthers are now 7-3 and Newton is a legitimate QB1 moving forward.

  • Cam Newton, Jonathan Stewart, Curtis Samuel Practice In Full

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (shoulder), running back Jonathan Stewart (toe) and wide receiver Curtis Samuel (ankle) all practiced in full Friday. All three will play Monday night against the Dolphins, but none of them are all that attractive for fantasy purposes. Newton continues to have pain in his surgically-repaired right shoulder and has been way too inconsistent for a struggling offense this year. He remains more of a low-end QB1, and he was hurt even more when the team traded away Kelvin Benjamin last week. J-Stew looks done and is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry as rookie Christian McCaffrey starts to steal more work from him. Stewart is not a realistic starting option. The rookie Samuel will see starts with Benjamin on another team, but his upside remains limited in a run-first offense.

  • Trusting Cam Newton A Roll Of The Fantasy Dice Against Miami

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton's up-and-down season continues this week against a Miami Dolphins defense that has allowed multiple touchdowns to only two quarterbacks this season -- Drew Brees and Josh McCown. Newton has thrown for 10 touchdowns but also has 11 interceptions with four rushing touchdowns as he continues to struggle with accuracy and chemistry on the field. He has been without his favorite target in Greg Olsen and now is without the services of since-traded wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. At times it feels like Newton only trusts rookie running back Christian McCaffrey and Newton himself. Newton is a roll of the dice against a Dolphins defense that has been decent against opposing quarterbacks. The key to this matchup is the fact that the Dolphins have not faced a mobile quarterback once all season. Look for Newton to post mediocre passing totals that could be offset by a rushing score in Week 10.
