Kendall Wright News
The Arizona Cardinals signed free-agent wide receiver Kendall Wright to a one-year deal on Monday and released rookie cornerback Deatrick Nichols in a corresponding move. Wright was the Bears leading receiver in 2017 with 59 catches for 614 yards and a touchdown. Arizona needs a lot of help on offense, generating 786 yards through the air in five games. Rookie Christian Kirk has been the team's leading receiver with only 19 catches for 234 yards and a score. Rookie quarterback Josh Rosen will likely continue to be up and down, too, so we find it hard to believe that Wright will carve out a fantasy-relevant role anytime soon.
Arizona Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks said the team worked out free-agent wide receiver Kendall Wright, but the team will not sign him. The Cardinals haven't been happy with the production from their receivers behind Larry Fitzgerald, but the whole offense has been dreadful so far and has produced just six points in two weeks. Fitzgerald is the only receiver in this offense worth starting in fantasy, and even then he should be downgraded to more of a WR3 until further notice.
The New England Patriots worked out free-agent wide receiver Kendall Wright and running back Kenjon Barner, among many others, on Wednesday. Wright had a productive season for Chicago last year, catching 59 passes for 614 yards, but he had just one touchdown. The Patriots are looking for bodies in their receiver room with Julian Edelman suspended the first four games. Wright is unlikely to become fantasy relevant in New England if he signs, however. Barner ran the ball only 16 times for the Eagles in 2017.
