Melvin Ingram News
Free-agent defensive end Melvin Ingram signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night, according to a source. The three-time Pro Bowler has 51 career sacks, 74 tackles for loss and 119 quarterback hits. The 33-year-old figures to rotate with Emmanuel Ogbah and Jaelan Phillips in Miami. Ingram spent last year with the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers, combining for 25 tackles (12 solo), four tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, two sacks and a forced fumble in 15 games (seven starts). He was originally a first-round selection (18th overall) by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2012 out of South Carolina.
The Kansas City Chiefs applied the rarely used unrestricted free-agent tender to outside linebacker Melvin Ingram on Monday. It means that if Ingram signs with a new team before July 22 or the first day of training camp, he would count towards the compensatory pick formula. If Ingram doesn't sign by then, the Chiefs would have exclusive negotiating rights. The pass-rusher spent the first nine years of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers and was a Pro Bowler from 2017-19. He spent last year with the Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers, combining for 25 tackles (12 solo), four tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, two sacks and a forced fumble in 15 games (seven starts). Depending on where he lands, the 33-year-old could land in a rotation role on defense.
Former Kansas City Chiefs pass-rusher Melvin Ingram visited with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday. Ingram came on strong last year with the Chiefs and could land with the Dolphins. The three-time Pro Bowler started last year with the Pittsburgh Steelers and played six games for them before landing in KC, where he finished with 15 combined tackles (seven solo), five QB hits, one sack and a forced fumble in nine games (six starts). The 32-year-old could form a formidable pass-rushing trio alongside Emmanuel Ogbah and Jaelan Phillips if he lands in Miami.
