Blair Walsh News
The Atlanta Falcons signed free-agent kicker Blair Walsh on Saturday. The 29-year-old is a former All-Pro that was taken by Minnesota in the sixth round in 2012. He hit 84.2 percent of his kicks in five years with the Vikings and was last with Seattle in 2017, where he made 72.4 percent of his kicks. Current kicker Giorgio Tavecchio has struggled this preseason, so Walsh will push him for the job as Week 1 approaches. Atlanta's kicker position could yield nice fantasy points in 2019, but this is a situation to avoid in fantasy until we have more clarity.
The Miami Dolphins held a workout for free-agent place kicker Blair Walsh on Monday, according to a source. Walsh spent just one year in Seattle and hit 21 of his 29 field goal tries (72.4 percent), while missing his only kick from 50-plus yards. He's an 82.4 percent kicker in his six years in the NFL and has hit 24 of a possible 35 kickers from beyond 50 yards. Walsh would probably be an upgrade for Miami, but he wouldn't receive much fantasy consideration on a team whose offense may not be nearly as explosive in 2018.
Embattled Seattle Seahawks kicker Blair Walsh knocked through three extra points and his only field goal try on Sunday to give him a perfect week for the first time in nearly a month. Walsh's struggles have been magnified by the tight wild-card race in the NFC and the fact that some of his misses have cost Seattle wins, but he's still productive from time to time. For fantasy purposes, owners need to truly be desperate to turn to the volatile kicker, though.
