Darius Slay News
Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay (back) was injured late in the fourth quarter in Monday night's wild-card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and had to be carted to the locker room. Slay got bent awkwardly while trying to make a tackle and then grabbed at the right side of his back. He appeared to be in a lot of pain and could be dealing with a significant injury, but we may not know the extent of it until Monday after he undergoes more tests. The Eagles' season is now over anyway after the 32-9 loss, so Slay will have all offseason to heal up. The 33-year-old had missed the final four games of the regular season due to a knee issue. The five-time Pro Bowler only played 12 games in his fourth year in Philly and finished the regular season with 57 tackles (48 solo), two interceptions (one for a touchdown) and 14 passes defensed.
Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Darius Slay (knee) was a full participant during Thursday's practice. The stud defensive back recently underwent surgery on his knee prior to Week 15. However, it sounds like Slay is trending in the right direction ahead of Monday's Wild-Card matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His availability would provide this defense with a much-needed boost ahead of this game. There is still a few more days of practice, but Slay appears to be ready to go.
Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay (knee) has been ruled out for a third consecutive game in Week 17 while tending to a knee injury. Slay had arthroscopic knee surgery ahead of Philadelphia's Week 15 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks and has avoided injured reserve since he was not expected to need four weeks to recover. During his absence the Eagles have allowed a total of 396 passing yards, though that was against Drew Lock and the combined efforts of Tommy Devito and Tyrod Taylor. Philadelphia's secondary has usually been one of the league's worst in 2023, and they will likely miss Slay's contributions against a stiffer opponent in Kyler Murray (illness) when they take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
