  • Blake Bortles Would Like To Return

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles said he would like to return in 2018. "I would be thrilled to be able to stay here and play here. Hopefully that can happen," Bortles said. His fifth-year option is only guaranteed for injury, so there is a chance they could move on. If Bortles is back under center in 2018, he'll have to prove worth of a contract extension. The fourth-year quarterback looked better down the stretch and in the playoffs against the Steelers and Patriots, but he threw for just 3,687 yards during the regular season with 21 touchdowns, although he had a career-low 13 interceptions. Bortles can use his legs to extend plays, too, but he has looked like a glorified game manager most of the time and doesn't have much of a ceiling left at this point for fantasy owners. Bortles isn't on the QB1 radar going into next year in what could be his last in Jacksonville.

  • Blake Bortles Silences Critics In AFC Title Loss

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles completed 23 of 36 passes for 293 yards and one touchdown as the Jaguars lost late to the Patriots 24-20 in the AFC Championship Game. The Jaguars lost the game but not necessarily because of Bortles. He protected the football and made some nice throws, including a red-zone floater to tight end Marcedes Lewis for a four-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The Jaguars success this season can be traced to great defense and conservative offensive game calling. That recipe, however, may have doomed them against the Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady. Bortles is the type of quarterback that teams win with, not because of. It is still unclear if he will be in the Jaguars future plans, but he certainly has helped his value with this deep playoff run. Bortles is not the type of quarterback you can build your franchise around, but he has proved this season that he can be a part of playing winning football.

  • Blake Bortles Has Favorable Matchup Against Patriots

It is hard to tell which Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles will show up from game to game. Will it be the quarterback that converted eight of 14 third downs against the Steelers and made some big-time throws? Or the passer that finished the regular season with five interceptions in his last two games? The play of the quarterback could be an underrated X-factor for the run-first Jaguars offense heading into a matchup with a Patriots secondary that allowed the seventh most fantasy points to opposing passers during the regular season. The unit looked impressive against an overwhelmed Titans offense last week but still allowed over 280 passing yards to eight different quarterbacks this season. Bortles will have to take some shots down the field at some point in the game, but he is a risky play to throw multiple touchdowns this Sunday.
