Ricardo Allen News
Cincinnati Bengals safety Ricardo Allen has decided to call it a career after seven seasons in the NFL. Allen was drafted in the fifth round by the Atlanta Falcons in 2014. He recorded 69 tackles, five passes defended, and three interceptions during his rookie campaign. He followed that up with a 90-tackle season in 2016. His career appeared to be headed in the right direction, but Allen never quite lived up to the hype of his first two seasons in the league. Allen played a minimal role on the Bengals in 2021 and has decided to step away from the game. He'll finish out his career with 355 tackles, 26 passes defended, and 11 interceptions in 91 games. At least the 30-year-old wrapped up his career on top with the Super Bowl champions.
Cincinnati Bengals safety Ricardo Allen (hand, hamstring) is going on Injured Reserve and will miss at least three weeks with a broken hand and a hamstring strain, according to a source. The Bengals added veteran safety Sean Davis to their practice squad in a corresponding move. Allen spent the previous six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons and has been productive in the past, but he had just 25 tackles (18 solo), two interceptions and five passes defensed in 12 starts in his final year in Atlanta in 2020. Even in a good matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 2, the Bengals defense/special teams shouldn't be considered a quality streaming option for fantasy managers.
Former Atlanta Falcons safety Ricardo Allen signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. The 29-year-old has been with the Falcons since 2015. In 12 games in 2020, Allen had two interceptions and a 62.4 Pro Football Focus grade. It's another addition to a Bengals defense that also added Chidobe Awuzie, Mike Hilton and Eli Apple to its secondary this offseason. Allen is a versatile defensive back that can play both cornerback and either safety spot, giving the team more secondary flexibility. The Bengals defense also added pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson and could soon sign free-agent edge rusher Ryan Kerrigan.
