  • Mike Evans Signs Extension

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and wide receiver Mike Evans agreed to a five-year, $82.5 million extension that will include $55 million in guarantees on Friday, according to sources. That means Evans is now under contract through the 2023 season. It's a big deal for a player that has opened his career with four straight 1,000-yard seasons for Tampa. With the Bucs offense hoping to take a step forward in 2018, Evans will be the unquestioned top receiver for quarterback Jameis Winston, and Evans remains a WR1 for fantasy purposes.

  • Mike Evans To Play Out Fifth-Year Option

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans' agent, Deryk Gilmore, said that he and his client are in no rush to sign an extension. Evans is currently set to play the 2018 season under his $13.2 million fifth-year option, and Gilmore said they aren't negotiating a long-term contract extension with the team right now. Evans is just 24 years of age but has already had over 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first four seasons and is No. 3 all time in the team's record book for most receiving yards. He also holds the team record for most receiving touchdowns in a season with 12, twice. The 24-year-old barely eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in 2017 and had only five touchdowns in 15 games, but he could be in line for much better production if quarterback Jameis Winston can stay healthy and take a step forward next season. Evans could be in line for a big payday on the open market if he performs well in 2018.

  • Mike Evans Has Average Day In Season Finale

Tampa Bay Buccaneers top wide receiver Mike Evans had an average day in the team's come-from-behind win versus the Saints. Coming into this matchup, it was set to be a tough one for Evans, as he was going to be shadowed by Saints top cornerback Marshon Lattimore. Evans ended the day with five catches, 55 yards and no touchdowns on 13 targets. He was overshadowed by rookie receiver Chris Godwin, who was able to catch the game-winning touchdown with just a few seconds left. Evans, along with the Buccaneers offense, had a very up-and-down season, but the team has decided to keep head coach Dirk Koetter, which should provide some stability heading into next season.
