  • Jameis Winston Ruled Out For Week 12

Updating previous reports, Tampa Bay Rays quarterback Jameis Winston (shoulder) has not been cleared to throw by the medical staff and will be out at least through Week 12 against the Falcons, according to head coach Dirk Koetter. It's not looking like Winston will be available to start the fantasy playoffs in most leagues in Week 14, so he's certainly a drop candidate in redraft formats. Backup Ryan Fitzpatrick hasn't been pretty, but he's led Tampa to two straight wins and will once again be a QB2 option in the divisional matchup with Atlanta.

  • Jameis Winston Unlikely To Return This Week

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston (shoulder) hasn't been cleared by doctors to resume throwing. He will be evaluated by the team Monday, but it will most likely be another week or two before he's ready to return to action. The Bucs are playing it safe and taking it slow with Winston, especially after backup Ryan Fitzpatrick has led the club to two straight wins. Winston was having a disappointing fantasy season as it was, and his owners shouldn't feel loyalty towards hanging onto him from here on out in shallow leagues.

  • Bucs Will Evaluate Jameis Winston This Week

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to evaluate quarterback Jameis Winston (shoulder) this week while they decide whether to start him or Ryan Fitzpatrick in Week 12. Fitzpatrick hasn't looked great, but he's led the team to two straight victories after going 22-for-37 for 275 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 11 win over the Dolphins. However, Winston, when healthy, is the more dynamic playmaker and gives Tampa a better chance to win. Winston must be cleared by doctors first, though, and head coach Dirk Koetter and general manager Jason Licht will make the final call. Even if Winston gets the green light to play against the Falcons, he'll be more of a low-end QB1/high-end QB2 in his return.
