  • Titans Not Worried About Marcus Mariota's Development

Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson remains confident that quarterback Marcus Mariota is the right guy for the gig, and Robinson isn't too worried that the team will have yet another head coach guiding the offense in 2018. "Marcus is a pretty resilient guy. He's a very mentally tough guy," Robinson said of Mariota. "He takes a lot from the standpoint of ownership in things. I have zero concern in Marcus being able to adapt and learn, and do what's best to get the offense going." Mariota will be playing for his third NFL coach after being drafted in 2015. It was a disappointing year for the Hawaiin in 2017, as he threw for just 3,232 yards with 13 touchdowns and 15 interceptions after throwing for 3,426 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2016. Injuries slowed Mariota down again, but he has plenty of pieces around him in the offense to be successful. The right coaching staff may be able to get more out of him, but fantasy owners probably won't want any part of Mariota, definitely not as a QB1.

  • Marcus Mariota Suffered Sprained Quad

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (quadriceps) suffered a strained quadriceps in the first quarter of the Divisional Round loss to the Patriots on Saturday, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. Mariota's injury forced the team to alter their offensive game plan, and it likely played a part in Mariota being sacked eight times. Mariota's scrambling abilities are a big part of his game, so the injury played a big role. However, the Titans were still unlikely to spring the massive upset even with a healthy Mariota, and his overall numbers in 2017 were a disappointment in this sluggish, run-first offense all year. Injuries throughout the season also limited Mariota, and with Mularkey and the coaching staff sticking around for next year, it seems hard to envision Mariota taking a huge step forward.

  • Marcus Mariota Needs To Come Up Big For Titans

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has not had the big statistical year that everyone expected, but he showed last week just why everyone in the organization is fully behind him. Mariota led three straight touchdown drives in the comeback win against the Kansas City Chiefs, including throwing a touchdown to himself. Mariota's toughness and will to win have been on full display the last two games, and the Titans will need much more of that against the New England Patriots. Expect Mariota to pull out all the stops in Saturday's matchup, especially on the ground. Mariota's running ability give him a solid floor as a cheap quarterback play in DFS formats, but he does lack the upside of some of the other options at his position this week.
