  • Austin Hooper Has Two Catches for Seven Yards

After a meteoric first week, Austin Hooper's performance was more down to Earth this Sunday versus the Green Bay Packers. Hooper converted both of his targets into two catches for seven yards, a fantasy stat line that reads poorly no matter how you look at it. The bright side is two-fold for Hooper's fantasy owners. First, Hooper was targeted, and might have gotten more work in a more contentious game. Second, Hooper converted both of his targets, a good sign of his sure-handedness. Hooper will get more opportunities for fantasy production next week as he and the Atlanta Falcons travel to Detroit to in their Sunday game versus against the Lions.

  • Austin Hooper Is A Solid TE1 Versus Green Bay in Week 2

After a Week 1 performance that saw him finish second at his position, Austin Hooper has burst onto the fantasy scene. The real question is rather or not his sudden explosion in scoring is a fluke. Of course, at this point, it's too early to tell. What we do know is that Hooper played in 47 of the Atlanta Falcons 55 offensive snaps, he's got sure hands, and a mean stiff arm. Hooper and the Falcons will be at home in Atlanta taking on the visiting Green Bay Packers. While the Packers aren't likely to have a complete breakdown on defense like the one that led to Hooper's 88-yard touchdown catch and run, the young tight end out of Stanford will be present on the field as a viable scoring option in many of the Falcons' red zone opportunities, and that alone is a great reason to give Hooper the start this week. One sole caveat: Hooper is definitely not the main red zone scoring option for Falcons' quarterback Matt Ryan to choose from. Fortunately, in recent years, the Falcons' games versus the Packers have been high scoring affairs, with plenty of points to spread around to everyone. Hooper should benefit from the shootout, as should all of the Falcons' offensive players.

  • Austin Hooper Makes Huge Week One Fantasy Splash

Atlanta Falcons' tight end Austin Hooper had a breakout fourth quarter during his Week One matchup versus the Chicago Bears. Hooper caught an 88-yard touchdown pass and finished the day with 128 yards total, all in the fourth quarter. Hooper was targeted twice and his performance arguably helped put the Bears away, so there's no reason to believe Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons coaching staff won't continue to look Hooper's way in the future. Still temper your Hooper-mania, especially since Hooper's 128-yard performance is just over a third of his career total. Also, Hooper was only targeted twice on Sunday, one of which was a result of a complete collapse on the part of the Bears' defense. At this point, it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on Hooper for future fantasy value, but as of now, he's still more sleeper than stud.
